Why did Alex Soth quit blogging?
Alex Soth is everywhere but in the blogsphere. In fact, he was just recently inducted as a full member into Magnum.
A Photo Editor has a short interview with Alex Soth where he explains why he quit blogging and if he plans on resuming again.
50 Megapixels at $1,000 each
Hasselblad has incorporated a 50-megapixel Kodak CCD sensor – capable of generating one 300MB file every second – into the new $50K H3DII-50.
I first learned of the camera on the web site Born Rich which features uber expensive luxury items like yachts and “super cars” that are out of the reach for most of us.
What does that tell you about this latest Hasselblad? If you plan on writing this off, plan on brining your receipt to the accountant as proof that one could spend “50 large” on a camera.
Getty sees $$ in Flickr’s expansive image collection
Getty Images has partnered with Yahoo owned Flickr and it’s 27 million members in order to offer a new Flickr branded collection of royalty free, rights ready and rights managed images.
Flickr’s content will be vetted out by Getty Image’s editing staff. The standard exclusive agreement and compensation schedule will be extended to the “keepers” or those images deemed of enough commercial viability for Getty. This means that 20% on royatly-free images, and an average of 35% on rights-managed images. The photographer is excluded from determning which images are chossen by Getty and/or setting a price point or license type. Exclusivity will also apply to the images meaning the shooter can’t decide the best distribution channels for his/her images.
I look forward to learning more about the specifics of the deal and more industry reaction as the annoucement spreads.
