It has been too long my friends. While tempting to think I hit the lotto and ran off to a comfy life near the sea, in actuality I embarked on another new product adventure. Upon earning an Apple MFI (Made For iPhone) license from Apple for this product idea, I set out to form a new company, raise capital, build the brand while developing the product. This is not a Kickstarter play…..rather accomplished old school with investors, Corporate Bylaws, business partners, three-up checks, the whole shooting match.

With great pleasure, I introduce Canopy – a brand of innovative accessories for today’s mobile technologies. Canopy’s products span from stylish protective iPhone cases, to software integrated Kapok and Jumba cases alongside a unique iPhone app. – the Canopy Camera Tools app, which takes advantage of the Kapok case’s point and shout functionality, and include such features as time-lapse, focus and exposure control, social media sharing, and a bubble level that allows people to capture life like never before on an iPhone.

To view all of these and more, and for more information about all of the company’s products, including the Abuta and Plano cases, visit www.canopyco.com and www.facebook.com/canopy. Gosh it is good to be back!

The only I-Phone app to date that has impressed me is called White Noise. It generates just that and is helpful in settling down my eight week old son.

A new app has just been released from OnOne Software though that makes White Noise look like child’s play. DLSR Camera Remote is the new age cable release allowing Canon EOS users (Nikon users out of luck for now) to remotely fire a camera from an I-Phone or I-pod touch. Additionally the cameras shutter speed, aperture, white balance settings and file size can be adjusted remotely.

Pushing this app over the top is image review and live view. The former lets you see the image you just photographed to confirm that you’ve got the shot. The later produces a virtual viewfinder on the I-Phone or I-Pod Touch; producing a preview (in near real-time) of what the camera sees. That is just sick.

More information is available at OnOne Software. Cali Lewis also provides a cool introduction to the app on Geek Brief TV . DSLR Camera Remote is now available on I-Tunes for the introductory price of $9.99.
