The only I-Phone app to date that has impressed me is called White Noise. It generates just that and is helpful in settling down my eight week old son.

A new app has just been released from OnOne Software though that makes White Noise look like child’s play. DLSR Camera Remote is the new age cable release allowing Canon EOS users (Nikon users out of luck for now) to remotely fire a camera from an I-Phone or I-pod touch. Additionally the cameras shutter speed, aperture, white balance settings and file size can be adjusted remotely.

Pushing this app over the top is image review and live view. The former lets you see the image you just photographed to confirm that you’ve got the shot. The later produces a virtual viewfinder on the I-Phone or I-Pod Touch; producing a preview (in near real-time) of what the camera sees. That is just sick.

I happened upon the work of Buenos Aires native, Alejandro Chaskielberg on the super sweet New York Times blog called Lens. Somehow I missed that he was also a recipient of the PDN’s 30 under 30. The mood established with the use of saturated color and selective focus is very appealing. I look forward to following the career of this cat.

Created for Tribal DDB, Amsterdam, Stink Digital and Director Adam Berg deliver this interactive campaign for Philips’ new CINEMA 21:9 TV. The cinematic proportions of the display became the theme of this piece. Adam responded with an idea for an epic ‘frozen moment’ cops and robbers shootout sequence.

This 2:19 film runs as an endless loop, allowing viewers to control their moves through the scene. The film also contains embedded hotspots, which, when triggered, give us a behind-the-scenes look at some of the shots.

Fallon of Minneapolis sees fit to develop an Adobe Air desktop application called Skimmer. The cleanly designed app aggregates content from Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, YouTube and Blogger. This feed content can be displayed in any number of ways to include Feed View, Inline Media View, Slideshow View, etc. Additionally, the content can be filtered by service, group or keyword. The application seems particulary well suited to handle rich multimedia content which is plentiful now a days. Now, why is an agency building Adobe Air apps? Your guess is as good as mine.

The AICP (Association of Amercian Producers) recommends in cases where the agency is requesting the recognition of a “principal-agent” that the client (principal) should not be released from the obligation of payment until total payment is made to the production company. It should be clarified that even if the client pays the agency, the client remains liable if the agent defaults in fulfilling the payment obligation.

Furthermore, ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers) has recommended to it’s membership that photographers include in their paperwork a statement making it clear that there will be no grant of copyright license until all related assignment invoices are paid in full. Images should be registered with the Copyright Office immediately upon completion of the shoot and prior to first publication and/or possible infringement so that in the event that legal action – a last resort – is needed, recovery of statutory damages and court costs will be possible.
